MONDAY

BLOCK 1 (5PM-6PM)

ACE ANY AUDITION!

INSTRUCTOR: Jake Cummings (Ovation Alum and Working Actor)

DESCRIPTION:
Conversation/Lecture/Q&A blend about how to overcome nerves, showcase your unique skills, find monologues and songs for audition material, and more!!!

CHARACTERIZATION THROUGH PHYSICALITY
(Black Box)

INSTRUCTOR: Kaitlyn Huston (Former Mr. E Student, Acting Expert Lady)

DESCRIPTION: So, you've explored the mind, wants, and needs of your character - but what's next? Embodying them through your physicality and body language. In this workshop, you'll learn to drop in to your character through movement, laban efforts, and explore how to interact with your environment and scene partners.

SET DESIGN
WITH MR C!
(Mr. C’s Room)

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. C (Ovation Tech Director)

DESCRIPTION: Ever wondered what the process of design looks like? Want to get inside the head of the coolest designer you know? Join Mr. C for a crash course in what it takes to create a show from the ground up!! We’ll learn some basics and engage in a DESIGN ROULETTE!!


BLOCK 2 (6PM-7PM)

INDECISION: THE ART OF MAKING ACTING CHOICES
(Black Box)

INSTRUCTOR: Andrew Fan (Ovation Officer)

DESCRIPTION: Have you ever been scared to make a bold choice when acting? In this workshop, get ready to cannonball from the diving board of your comfort zone into the deep end of your potential. Learn the essentials to making strong, meaningful choices through timed exercises. 

PUPPETS-PALOOZA!
(Zuteck’s Room)

INSTRUCTOR: Hannah Lundberg (Ovation Officer)

DESCRIPTION: Puppets Palooza is a hands-on workshop for students excited to explore the world of theatrical puppetry. Participants will learn how to turn brown cardboard into a functional puppet using provided instructions. Through outlining, cutting, and assembling, students will discover the craftsmanship behind puppetry. Whether you’re a technician or an actor, this workshop offers a fun, low-pressure way to bring cardboard to life!

ACTING THROUGH SONG

**COME WITH A SONG READY TO SING!**

INSTRUCTORS: John and James Silva (Ovation Alumni, Professional Singy Boys)

DESCRIPTION: A Masterclass style workshop where students will learn how to improve your performance skills using the story and music to influence your physical and vocal technique.

Each student wanting to sing must provide sheet music (if possible) or lyrics to the song as well as the backing track. YouTube backing tracks can be used, so please know which video you would to use, and the Silva’s can pull up that video for you.


BLOCK 3 (7PM-8PM)

WHAT A DIRECTOR WANTS
(Black Box)

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. E (Ovation Director) + Mrs T (Katy High School Director)
(Best Friends, Mortal Enemies, Former Coworkers)

DESCRIPTION: Mr. E and Mrs T are directors and friends sometimes and they will chat with you about how to be a successful high school theatre student. It will be fun and silly and beep beep bop bope boop

MAKE A SCENE: FILMMAKING!

INSTRUCTOR: Mr Taylor (Filmmaker/Producer/Ovation Photographer + Sound Wiz)

DESCRIPTION: Hands-on workshop where students break into groups to form a film crew and their challenge is to bring a scene to life, on the fly. Each group will pull a mystery prompt from a hat: it might be a scene idea, a genre remix, or even a three-sentence micro-script. From there, the group will assign roles in order to storyboard and shoot a 90 second scene using their phone.
