MONDAY
BLOCK 1 (5PM-6PM)
OVATION 101

**REQUIRED FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS**
INSTRUCTOR: Cody Edgar (Ovation Director) + Hannah Lundberg (Ovation Officer)
DESCRIPTION:
Ovation 101 will focus on all things Ovation Theatre. We will discuss all the events that take place during the year as well as general information about our program. From important audition dates to activities planned during the year, learn all about the numerous opportunities Ovation provides its members. We can’t wait to meet you and answer any questions you may have!
HOW TO STAND OUT IN DANCE AUDITIONS!

INSTRUCTOR: Juana Sofia Roa Atuesta (Head Student Choreographer, Ovation Officer)
DESCRIPTION: Crack the code to dance auditions! In this workshop, we're pulling back the curtain on what your directors really look for and sharing the insider tips and tricks that'll set you apart! This workshop covers it all- from preparing yourself for the audition all the way to days after it. But we're not stopping there. Just when you think you've got it all down, we're putting what you’ve learned into action by learning THE TIME WARP from The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Whether you've got two left feet or you're ready to bring the pops and locks, trust us: you won't want to miss it!
Meisner? Meisner. Meisner!

INSTRUCTOR: Joshua Cordes (Ovation Officer)
DESCRIPTION: This workshop will focus on the Meisner acting technique and what it has to offer for actors. The Meisner technique is a very popular style and in fact, Ovation Theatre uses it in a number of our own productions. In this workshop, participants will learn a brief history on Stanford Meisner and why his acting method is beneficial for all levels of experience. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform with others in the Meisner style through various exercises and short scenes. Participation is expected in this and it would be beneficial to bring a friend!

DESCRIPTION: Mr. E and Mrs. T answer your burning questions and give you tips on how to have a fun and succesful high school theatre career. It will be silly and fun beep bop bop bop beep
TECH DESIGN: Collaborate!

DESCRIPTION: Let’s work to make a tech masterpiece! In this class we will explore the different types of communication, how to visualize your vision, and how to practice collaborating with your peers through your work!
ACTING: PLAY THE OPPOSITE!

INSTRUCTOR: Caylyn Schaefer (Teacher, Director, Former E Student)
DESCRIPTION: Need some tools on how to get out of your head in a scene?? Need some tips on how to ace your scene reading auditions? In this workshop we will explore to get into your body and out of your head by playing with extreme contrast!

TECH DESIGN: Collaborate!

IMPROV 102
(Stage)
INSTRUCTOR: Sienna Cowsert and Andi Delaney (Improvaganza Captains)
DESCRIPTION: This workshop will focus on the skill of ending an Improv Scene. The captains will teach how to utilize “if then” and “finding the game” to bring any improvisational scene to an end.
FILMMAKING: MAKE A SCENE!!

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Taylor (Film Director/Producer, Ovation Filmographer)
DESCRIPTION: Hands-on workshop where students break into groups to form a film crew and their challenge is to bring a scene to life, on the fly. Each group will pull a mystery prompt from a hat: it might be a scene idea, a genre remix, or even a three-sentence micro-script. From there, the group will assign roles in order to storyboard and shoot a 90 second scene using their phone.
