MONDAY

BLOCK 1 (5PM-6PM)

OVATION 101
(Black Box)

INSTRUCTOR: Hannah Lundberg (Ovation Officer) and Mr. E (Ovation Director)

DESCRIPTION:
REQUIRED FOR ALL FRESHMEN AND 1ST YEAR STUDENTS!!!
Learn tips about navigating your way through your first year in Ovation from the Director himself and an Ovation Officer. Ask questions, gain information, and have fun!

DRAWING - Design a Playbill!
(Carter’s Room)

INSTRUCTOR: Jack Holden (Hartford Student, Ovation Alumni)

DESCRIPTION: Learn what goes into making a strong playbill design work, and design your own! Any skill level encouraged to come and learn basic design skills as it relates to the theatrical publicity world!

DANCE - AND ALL THAT JAZZ!
(Stage)

INSTRUCTOR: Mikayla Hoffman (UofH Student, Ovation Alumni)

DESCRIPTION: Students will learn a high-energy jazz combo with a focus on character expression and technique development. Dancers of all skill levels are welcome! Come explore a style of dance that is the foundation of musical theatre dancing. Bring your dance shoes (if you have them) and clothes to move in!


BLOCK 2 (6PM-7PM)

BODY LANGUAGE - A BUILDING BLOCK OF STORYTELLING
(Stage)

INSTRUCTOR: Mikayla Hoffman (UofH Student, Ovation Choreographer and Alumni)

DESCRIPTION: Students will explore how they can tell a story through movement and body language. We will explore Laban efforts of movement and learn how to utilize them to develop plot and express character.

SO YOU’RE GOING TO THESFEST?

INSTRUCTOR: Alexis Llenos(Ovation Officer)

DESCRIPTION: During this class you will learn how to fully maximize your thesfest experience by learning how to navigate the online resources, prepare for I.E. competitions, sign up for workshops, and get useful tips you can’t find anywhere else!

SPEEDY SCENE STUDY!
(Carter’s Room)

INSTRUCTOR: Kate Kannady(Ovation Officer)

DESCRIPTION: We will be learning the importance of being able to cold read and its benefit's! There will be groups made that are each given scenes to prepare in 10-15 minutes. After the time is up each group will perform to the rest of the groups. In this workshop you will build confidence while being under pressure, work efficiently in unfamiliar circumstances, and strengthen cold reading skills!


BLOCK 3 (7PM-8PM)

IMPROV 101
(Gym)

INSTRUCTOR: Sienna Cowsert and Andi Delaney (Improvaganza Captains)

DESCRIPTION: Learn the basic rules of Improv! We will specifically focus on how to start an engaging and exciting Beginning of a Scene!

DANCE: You Will Be a Soda Pop
(Stage)

INSTRUCTOR: Camden Baker (Ovation Officer)

DESCRIPTION: Come dance with CB to the music of the hit KPOP Demon Hunters song: “Soda Pop”! We will be learning a section of the dance and preform with groups together!

Woodshop 101 with T.I.B.S the Safety Mouse
(Shop)

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. C (Ovation Director)

DESCRIPTION: A basic coursework that discusses the safety in a variety power tools in the shop! Use Drills, Miter Saws, Staple Guns, and Jig Saws to make a wooden friend that is a reminder of how to operate these tools safely.
